FAQs

Registration

Bulk registration is an option for SHPE chapters that are paying for 5 or more registration fees with a university/college check, money order, or credit card. There is no discount for bulk registrations. Please note that your submission may take up to 24 hours to process during business hours. Once we receive and process your request, an invoice will be issued for payment by Finance. The promotional code is sent to the requester once payment is received and processed by the Finance Department. This could take up to 24 hours during business hours. When payment is confirmed with registration, the requester will receive the bulk code for your group, and then your chapter will be able to register for the event using a single promotional code that must be distributed to your group upon receipt.

It is the responsibility of the requester to distribute the code to the members.

All codes must be used to register no later than 72 hours prior to the start of the event. Any code that is not used by the start of the event will be forfeited and no refund will be issued.

Registration cancellations will be refunded up to 2 weeks prior to the conference, minus a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations requests after 2 weeks are non-refundable.

An attendee may be substituted at any time, within the same chapter, up to 1 weeks before the conference. After that date and time, substitutions will not be accepted. SHPE does not permit the transfer of registration from one party to another.

  • Clear your cache and try a different browser.
  • If that doesn’t work, check that your membership is up to date. You must be in good standing with SHPE in order to register. You can do this through your SHPE connect account or email [email protected] with your membership ID if you have issues.
  • If you’re still having issues, email [email protected] to investigate the issue on the back end. Please allow 24-hour response time (M-F).

SHPE intentionally makes our offerings as affordable as possible. We stand behind the value of the offerings we provide the Familia. Lifetime members can email [email protected] with their membership ID for their 10% discount.  We do also offer our Advisors support as they attend with their chapters.  If you are facing a hardship, please email [email protected].

General Questions

Please check the agenda on the website above.

Yes! We have created a Word template that you can download, fill in, and submit to your employer to request their support.

Topics for each agenda will be targeted to each area of the virtual event with subject matter experts.  They are also dependent on the sponsors and will updated as they get confirmed which is ongoing.

You will receive login information by the Wednesday before each virtual conference. If you do not receive login information by 10pm PT that Wednesday, please e-mail [email protected] with your name, email you registered with, and membership ID so we can look up your information to resend to you.

Whoever attends 5 or more sessions will be entered in a random drawing to win a $25 Amazon gift card.

Our virtual platform, Virtu-Meet, will work best on Google Chrome. We do encourage you to do this from a laptop or computer with a video camera with a quiet environment for a successful experience.  It can be done with a tablet but it some features may not work as well.

The career fair will be accessed through this platform, though it will be executed on a partner platform called Brazen that also works best on Google Chrome. More information on how to use this platform will be available soon and we will also be holding webinars for those registered for walk-throughs.

Any session that is pre-recorded will be available for 90 days after the event date

Yes! Attendee to attendee messaging is possible through the main platform. Attendees will be able to send private messages to each other, in addition to the main chat.

Career Fair Technical Questions

To fully participate in video or audio one-on-one chats during the Career Fair, you will need a web cam and microphone.

For the best results use Google Chrome to access the Career Fair through the Virtu-Meet virtual platform. You will be linked to Brazen through the Virtu-Meet platform. Please note there is not a separate link for the career fair.

Check your system in advance by going here.

For more information on system requirements, click here.

Before contacting support, check the following:

  • Do you have other apps and tabs open? Try closing out any unnecessary applications or windows, refreshing your page, and trying again.
  • Try clearing your cache.
  • How is your internet connectivity? Weak connections can often create disruptions in audio and video. The best connections are to connect your computer and router to an ethernet cord. You can also try switching to an alternative Internet source.
  • Is your browser up to date? Make sure you have the latest version of your browser. We recommend using Google Chrome, but Brazen also supports Firefox, Safari, and MS Edge.

If you are experiencing technical issues on Brazen, please contact support.

Attendees will click on the icon within the conference virtual platform Virtu-Meet. More information on how to use this platform will be available soon.

Sponsors should have received a registration confirmation email from Brazen to access their booth. If you cannot find that email, please contact your booth owner or e-mail [email protected].

If you are a sponsor and looking to use your full conference registration and having issues, please email [email protected].

You may be asked for a video chat during the Career Fair.

Be aware of your appearance and your surroundings. Dress appropriately and come camera ready. We recommend you find a quiet, distraction-free, appropriate space to attend the event. Ideally, you will be upright and attentive while on camera.  Solid and darker colors work best on camera.

Companies participating in the Career Fair may be found on the SHPExchange website page under Sponsors/Exhibitors – select the tab that corresponds to your specific industry event.  This list grows as companies sign up so check back often.

During the Career Fair on the second day of the virtual conference, you will be able to meet with sponsor representatives.

If the representative elects, they may ask you for an audio or video chat. You will be able to accept or decline the audio or video chat. We strongly encourage you to be camera ready and accept the invitation to speak with company representatives via your web cam/microphone.

As a reminder, be aware of your appearance and surroundings. Dress professionally and come camera ready. We recommend you find a quiet, distraction-free, appropriate space to attend the Career Fair.

Since we are encouraging video chatting, you will be able to participate in one chat at a time.

No, Brazen randomly assigns you to a booth representative.

At the end of your chat, if the representative deems it appropriate, they may forward your information to a colleague for follow-up.

The sponsors do have the option of including open opportunities in their organization. You will find these on the “Opportunities” tab in the booth. Check back soon for details on how to find this feature.

When joining the line to chat, you may be asked to answer pre-qualifying questions for these opportunities. Even if you do not meet the pre-qualifications, you may join the line to meet the company representative.

You may save your greetings. Type the greeting in the message, select all and right click to select copy.

Be careful about including too much information in your messages. Company representatives want to have a conversation with you. Providing too much for them to read may delay the time you have to speak via video.

If the company has provided an e-mail address when they set up their booth, there will be a place for you to drop off your resume in the booth.  Reminder they will also be getting your resume from the SHPE Online Career Center where you uploaded it.
