Inventor’s Patent Academy
Through EntrepreneurSHPE, SHPE is committed to empowering innovators, entrepreneurs, and creators across the STEM ecosystem by increasing access to intellectual property education and innovation resources.
As part of this effort, SHPE is proud to highlight the Inventors Patent Academy — a free online learning platform designed to help inventors, entrepreneurs, students, researchers, and early-stage founders better understand patents, intellectual property, and the innovation process.
Presented by Invent Together, the program was created to expand access to patent education and support inventors from historically underrepresented communities in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Inventor’s Patent Academy offers free, self-paced learning modules that help participants:
- Understand the fundamentals of patents and intellectual property
- Learn how to navigate the U.S. patent process
- Explore strategies for protecting innovations and ideas
- Gain insight into challenges inventors may face and how to overcome them
- Build confidence in pursuing invention, commercialization, and entrepreneurship opportunities
The curriculum includes practical guidance from patent professionals, inventors, and innovation experts, along with real-world examples designed to make patent education more accessible and actionable.
By connecting SHPE members and the broader STEM community to resources like the Inventor’s Patent Academy, EntrepreneurSHPE continues to foster innovation, economic mobility, and pathways for Hispanic talent to lead in entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, and intellectual property creation.

Google Cloud Certification Journey
In collaboration with Google Cloud, we have developed and launched an Associate Cloud Engineer training and certification program designed to prepare SHPE higher education student members for ACE certification and build proficiency in the cloud skills needed for entry-level employment opportunities.
Cohorts of student SHPE members who are currently enrolled at a college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related majors. The ideal participants have 6+ months hands-on experience in CS/CIS and are interested in pursuing roles such as cloud engineers, solution architects, and DevOps engineers. Familiarity with the following is helpful:
- Operating systems
- File systems
- The IP networking stack
- How web browsers and web servers communicate
- Databases
- Programming
- Working with Linux at the command line
- Editing text files from the Linux command line
Participants will be provisioned with free access to the on-demand training and hands-on labs that are part of the Associate Cloud Engineer certification journey.
- Technical Skill Development:
- An 8-week learning journey that includes a cohort-based approach to learning with a Learning Guide that contains on-demand courses, hands-on labs, and exam preparation.
- 4 months access to Google Cloud’s Architecting with Google Compute Engine Specialization (5-course Specialization)
