Processing the Process: Some Steps, Suggestions, and Resources for Navigating and Writing the Thesis or Dissertation with Author/Presenter Garrett I. Colón (he/him/his/Él)
Garrett Iván Colón is a fourth-year PhD Candidate in Rhetoric and Composition at Purdue and the Assistant Director of the Purdue OWL. His research interests are in Technical and Professional Writing, Accessible and Inclusive Technology Design, Translingualism, and Decolonial Theory. As part of his dissertation, Garrett has set out to learn where Latinx students write on campus and whether their writing and literacy practices shape attitudes toward or involvement in current issues on campus and their communities. Garrett got his start in the field as a writing tutor in college and is pursuing a career in writing center administration whereby he aims to support international universities seeking to design and develop writing centers. One of his long-term research goals is to work collaboratively with others toward developing a more sustainable participatory design of technology that is inclusive of Indigenous languages, values, and practices.
