As SHPE celebrates its 50th anniversary, I see an organization that works to connect and mentor its members, improve resources for personal and professional development, and continue to push the boundaries for Latinas in STEM. As Region 2’s Regional Vice President, I have four key points I wish to address during my tenure: I will work to strengthen the connection between SHPE Junior, Student, Graduate and Professional members, providing avenues that help each group accomplish their goals. Improve resources for personal and professional development, topics members continually request workshops and guidance on, and provide mentorship to help maintain active chapters across the region.Lastly, as Latina’s represent 2% of STEM professionals, I will continue the SHPEtina Initiative with hopes to increase and strengthen the presence of SHPEtina.
