Welcome to Virtual STEM Lab
At SHPE, we know early exposure to STEM positively influences the likelihood of a student choosing it for their career path. The Virtual STEM Lab program is designed to introduce the profound possibilities of STEM to high schoolers and their families.
About the Program
Early exposure to STEM degrees and awareness of different STEM careers will increase the chance of a student choosing STEM as their academic path and career destination. At SHPE, it is our goal to connect students with an array of STEM possibilities. SHPE’s Virtual STEM Lab pre-college offerings provide K-12 students access to a variety of opportunities and experiences that spark excitement for science, technology, engineering and math!
All Hispanic pre-college students can excel in STEM. It is critical that Hispanic students are provided the tools and resources to support their progress toward a STEM degree no matter where they are in their academic journey. Our pre-college efforts meet students where they are – both developmentally and geographically. We bring hands-on STEM experiences to their home, their school, their community, and their computer. We want our students to truly have access to these offerings and explore them without any limits.
SHPE helps students find their passion for STEM and spark excitement for their STEM future.
Virtual STEM Lab objectives are grouped into three (3) main categories:
- Increasing awareness of STEM fields and careers;
- Increasing participants’ beliefs about their ability to succeed in STEM; and
- increasing participants’ sense of STEM identity.
In addition, our high school pre-college students will be offered college readiness opportunities, access to STEM certifications, will be welcomed to the SHPE Junior Familia, and provided many more opportunities!
Virtual STEM Lab Events
The Virtual STEM Labsprogram is designed to introduce STEM to K-12 students. Events are held virtually to appeal to a nationwide audience.

Parent Session Resources
SHPE developed and translated 3 parent workshops that can be adapted for your use. These presentations are developed to provide parents of first-generation students with the tools, resources, and knowledge necessary to support them as they earn engineering degrees.
