Sana Sana con SHPE

Sponsored by Honeywell

SHPE is excited to announce a new program series focused on mental health awareness and support for our members. “Sana Sana con SHPE” will explore a variety of intersectional issues related to mental health and its impact on education, career, and familia through three informative webinars and an interactive workshop.

The series kicked off in Spring 2024 with “Mental Health 101”, providing an introduction to key mental health topics for the Latino community. You can access the recording of that first session below! Participants will learn to identify signs of distress, discuss how to support others, and discover helpful resources.

Building on this foundation, the Fall 2024 webinar “Addressing Strengths & Barriers” will dive deeper into the unique strengths and challenges Latinos face around mental health, with insights from Honeywell speakers on work-life balance and preparing for internship experiences.
Spring 2025 brings “Navigating Mental Health Care”, to help participants understand how to find culturally competent mental health support that fits their needs.

The series culminates in Fall 2025 with an impactful storytelling workshop, presented in collaboration with NAMI Compartiendo Esperanza. Through the power of “cuento”, participants will put the webinar learnings into practice and work to break down barriers to accessing mental health support.

Open to all SHPE members as well as Honeywell employees and interns, this important program aims to increase understanding, build community, and connect participants to valuable mental health resources.

We hope you’ll join us to learn, share, and support each other in strengthening our collective wellbeing.

SHPE Community College Support Program

Sponsored by Honeywell

SHPE is also thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with Honeywell to support the growth and development of our distinguished community college chapters during the 2024-2025 academic year.Through this program, led by Pamela Rubalcaba from Honeywell, community college chapters can apply for funding of up to $3,400 to expand their community, provide valuable support for events and programming, and ultimately further the success of community college students in STEM.The program features two key components:

  1. A series of webinars presented by Honeywell employees, with content tailored specifically for community college students. The first webinar was held on April 22 at 12pm ET, “Which Degree is Right for Me? Exploring 2-year and 4-year Degree Options in STEM.”
  2. Direct financial support for selected community college chapters. Funding can be used for community-building activities and events, but not conference travel.

To apply for funding, community college chapters should submit a budget proposal to Pamela Rubalcaba ([email protected]) by midnight local time on May 31, 2024. Successful proposals will include:

  • A brief introduction to your chapter
  • The overall budget amount requested
  • An explanation of why funding is needed and how it will help you achieve your chapter goals (Tip: reference your Chapter Management Tool)

Honeywell will carefully review all submissions and notify selected chapters of their award by July 1, 2024. Please note, submitting a proposal does not guarantee funding. We encourage all eligible community college chapters to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to access professional development, expand your network, and gain financial support to take your chapter to the next level.

Share this opportunity with your members and peers today!
