Celebrating 30 Years of Regional Leadership Conferences
The Regional Leadership Development Conference was designed to strengthen the student and professional chapters in SHPE’s 7 regions by providing an avenue for learning and engaging future Hispanic leaders. Since 1987, the RLDCs have offered robust interactive programming that focused on developing key strengths and skills to be an effective leader. SHPE Members gain knowledge in areas such as organizational structure, engaging more Hispanics in STEM, cultivating chapter connections to the Hispanic community, personal and professional development, and community service.

IPC Members at SHPE 2016 National Conference
As we close out 2016, SHPE wants to send a big thank you to our Industry Partnership Council members.
The Industry Partnership Council (IPC) is an integral part of Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) achieving our organizational mission. Together we have provided thousands of Hispanics with career opportunities and increased the number of Hispanic students pursuing STEM in our continued collective effort to diversify the workforce of today and the future.
Highlights NILA 2016
For three decades, the National Institute for Leadership Advancement (NILA) has consistently produced technical leaders capable of achieving success within SHPE and their professional careers. Continuing the legacy, this year’s crop of newly elected officers received the knowledge, skills and inspiration to change lives in their local communities.
Thank you to our Industry Partnership Council Members and other sponsors for their contributions and commitment to advancing Latinx in STEM.
Conference Provides Opportunity for Hispanic Engineering Students
BALTIMORE —Area Hispanic engineering students had the opportunity to gain valuable experience at the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers annual conference.

"We are building a marshmallow cannon," engineering student Julian Zuluaga said. It is part of something called the "Extreme Engineering Challenge."
"It's competitive," Zuluaga said. "There are 10 teams. Each team has a company representing them."
